My Anti-ABA Testimony: Parents are desperate to receive ABA for their children because they've been told its the only thing that will help them.

Providers claim that Autistic kids who don’t have ABA won't able to enter mainstream schools and may never be autonomous without ABA.

In my last piece titled “If Not ABA, then What? Increasing Communication, Language, and Academic Skills,” where I wrapped up my series on Alternatives to ABA, I mentioned that I had recently found a script from testimony I gave during my work at the Texas state capital on November 19, 2021.

I asked my Substack and Patreon readers if anyone wanted to see a transcript of my testimony and several of you requested I share it - so here it is (for paid subscribers only because I don’t feel safe sharing this in a public setting due to how much controversy came my way when I gave the testimony originally).

This was one of multiple testimonies I gave at various meetings that included bills one ABA. This particular testimony was given during a virtual meeting where ABAers were asking for an increase in funding just a few months after they started to receive funding.

Every session they lobby for more and more funding for ABA, which then slowly drains the funds away from other Autism related services. This was my attempt to stop their first attempt at an increase in state Medicade funding of ABA.

We were unable to stop the advance of ABA in Texas, but definitely got the attention of the ABA industry and lobbyists.
