The World We Live in - The World We Allow
Living on the Brink - Reflections on a Fractured World: A Poem from Precarious Times
What a world we live in.
In a time when we would be so much better off unified, we find ourselves fighting and pulling one another down (instead of lifting each other up) like crabs in a bucket.
Welcome back to another Founding Member Post!
Twice each month I will put out an exclusive post like this one (often on a more intimate and personal topic, book sneak peeks, OR featuring some of the training materials I’m teaching) that will be brought to you by and for our Founding Members.
When I am scheduling this post, we have Forty Five Founding Members!
I won’t put them on the spot today, but you know who you are. I can’t thank you enough for your support (especially in this moment).
What a world we live in, where we've somehow decided to monetize everything (on a planet that provides us with all the resources we need to survive), and the people who dare question this system are often dismissed.
What a world we live in.
On this planet, there are enough resources available to eliminate poverty and starvation. Still, a few greedy people hoard most of the wealth (instead of helping the people around them), and nobody stops them.
What a world we live in, where our government is kidnapping and trafficking people (including people in the country legally, like asylum seekers, green card holders, legal permanent residents, and even citizens) without due process to foreign camps outside of the U.S. jurisdiction, and nobody is stopping it.
What a world we live in.
How do we allow a handful of ultra-wealthy robber barons to steal from us (when we vastly outnumber the wealth hoarders)? Why don't we stop them?
What a world we live in, where the United States has become one of the least safe places for international travelers to visit (or for people who've been critical of Trump, MAGA, the United States, or Israel) to return to. I've even heard rumors of outbound checkpoints heading out of the U.S. into Canada.
What a world we live in.
It is a world where The People do not know our power (that we outnumber them)-something we can only change if we unite and stop fighting one another).
What a world we live in, where they're arguing in favor of imprisoning people indefinitely in foreign countries (without due process).
What a world we live in.
We have laws, but they only apply to some people (because we have fines that are pocket change for the rich but enough to ruin the life of someone living paycheck to paycheck).
