Who would I be outside of capitalism?
The Cost of Exclusion: My Journey as a Queer NeuroDivergent Person in Corporate America
I saw a meme once a few years ago. I've actually seen a few versions of this meme (by different people) over the years, though I haven't seen it recently, making it impossible (for me) to know which version is the original.
The meme says something like "dreaming about the person I would be outside of capitalism," which makes me wonder, "Who would I be outside of capitalism?"
I've been thinking about this phrase a lot more recently because money has been tighter than usual, and I've taken up a weekend service industry job to pick up the slack (which I am supposed to start this weekend, possibly tomorrow).
Because I’ve taken up a weekend job, my twice monthly Founding Member Friday Posts (like this one) will now be moving to Thursdays.
Welcome back to another Founding Member Post!
Twice each month (usually on Thursdays), I will put out an exclusive post like this one (often on a more intimate and personal topic OR featuring some of the training materials I’m teaching) that will be brought to you by and for our Founding Members.
When I am scheduling this post, we have thirty-three Founding Members!
I won’t put them on the spot today, but you know who you are. I can’t thank you enough for your support.
Worries over the election in November and what would happen to people like me (Queer, NeuroDivergent, working in the field of DE&I or Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) living in places like Texas.
Anticipating the worst, I'm already preparing for the potential impact of the upcoming election on me (and my business), especially if we see another Trump presidency.
The alt-right's attack on DE&I (which Queer and Neuro-Inclusion fall under) has been hard on my business, as many of my corporate clients have laid off DE&I staff and aren't bringing in external contractors to help with their inclusion efforts at this time (for fear of upsetting those who've taken on an anti-DE&I at work mentality).
